Our King is the Shepherd King. He is a Shepherd and He is also a King. In the social order, the king holds the highest position, while the shepherd occupies the lowest. A shepherd was once said to be unholy and was not even allowed to go to the temple of God.
It is interesting that there was never a Shepherd-King or King-Shepherd. He declared in Ezekiel 34 what His duty would be.
